One of my favorite things in the universe of the Harry Potter books is the way they consume media and communicate. Photographs taken with wizarding cameras actully move. The Daily Prophet, their newspaper features lots of photos like this. It's also delivered by owls to the reader, whenever and wherever they happen to be.
This appeals to me for a number of reasons. For one, I'm insanely busy. I'm always on the go. For another, I am rather selective about what I consume, and when and where I can consume it. I don't generally watch the evening news. I'm not on facebook, and I have some rather exotic interests.
I love words.
I have had a life long romance with words, reading, writing, and language.
When I was in the 3rd grade I read my scholastic dictionary from cover to cover once, like it was a story.
Tonight after work, I went swimming again. (13 miles of my 365, for those counting such things.) As is often my habit, I was listening to an audiobook on my trusty blue waterproof iPod Shuffle, PoolShark.
I'm definitely running behind. But that's part of the exercise. I'll see what I can do to catch up over the coming days.
